Life is a lot like light, and so is your health.
Just in the same way that the switch in this building is connected through electrical wires to the light fixtures, there are nerves in your body that connect your brain with every part of your body.
They’re known as the master system, and they control and regulate everything that you sense and that you feel, all of the movements that you make, your organs, and your glands, and every body function.
What would happen if we were to cut the nerve to your heart?
It’d stop working. Instead of cutting the nerve, what about an electrical interference like a dimmer switch?
Your heart is going to keep working, but it’s not going to be working at 100% function.
This can happen to a lot of nerves.
Some nerves are related to your balance and coordination, and when there’s interference there, it can create dizziness or vertigo.
Some nerves go into the head and create a lot of headaches.
Some nerves go to the muscles of the neck and the back and can create back pain and neck pain and a lot of muscle tension.
There’s a lot of ways that a misalignment in the neck can be expressed because this is the connection point between the brain and the rest of your body.
If you’re tired of just taking pills to treat the symptoms, then let’s correct the structural problem in your body and restore that light. Restore the function to your God-given design.
Most health care should be called disease care. It merely treats the symptoms of your condition, your disease, or your chronic pain.
It does not help your body to heal because you’re only treating the tip of the iceberg. This is the single biggest failure of our disease care system.
The dirty little secret for most natural health solutions out there is that they just treat the symptoms as well.
If you have high blood pressure, are you going to take meds to artificially lower it or an herb for that matter, or are you going to change your lifestyle to restore it to normal?
Big Pharma and the supplement companies? They want a customer for life. The only true path to a long-term solution is to find and fix the underlying cause of the problem.
If you have chronic pain like headaches or neck pain or sciatica, or other spinal pain, oftentimes, there is an underlying structural shift within your spine somewhere that is pinching or irritating or negatively affecting the function of certain nerves.
If you correct the structure of the spine, you relieve the problem with the nerve.
Just like if you have a cut, your body makes new skin, it can heal. That nerve can heal as well if you remove the structural shift.
If you are tired of being stuck in the pain, relief, pain, relief, pain cycle, then please make some kind of a comment about how you want to restore your body’s God-given design and get back to living a full and vibrant life.
Whenever I’m asked why I became a chiropractor, it’s always an interesting conversation because growing up, going through school, I never had an interest in becoming a chiropractor.
I was always fascinated with the human body and was interested in becoming a doctor.
My experience with chiropractic at a young age wasn’t the best we’ll say.
My full story is that I was a patient of chiropractic and specifically NUCCA, long before I was ever a doctor.
When I was in the 7th grade, I was a good basketball player; growing up here in Indiana, everybody plays basketball, and I was hit by a car.
I was a pedestrian, and my legs were pinched between the bumpers of two cars and kind of had full-body whiplash thrown back against the hood of one of the vehicles.
By the grace of God, my legs were pinched there was no broken bones, no nerve damage.
My muscles certainly got mangled a little bit in my calves.
I missed most of the basketball season that winter.
As I was going through rehab for my legs, I started developing really bad headaches, and this was in 7th grade, so fast forward as I’m going through the rest of junior high and high school, I developed severe migraines.
Now I didn’t have a really bad opinion of chiropractic because both of my parents had seen improvement from disc problems in their lower back and nerve-related pain in their life and before my accident.
They took me to the local chiropractor in town where I grew up, and I got some care there.
It didn’t work for me, though, not for my headaches.
I felt like maybe the adjustments would take the edge off a little bit when I had a bad migraine, but it wasn’t a solution.
Over the years, even with the care that I had there, the migraines just got worse progressively, more intense, more severe, more debilitating to the point where fast forward when I was in college, an undergrad and I was a premed major, I was always a good student academically,
but I found myself holed up in my dorm room, missing classes, missing time with friends, et cetera.
Finally, my parents took me to a doctor that specialized in NUCCA and had to travel from Northern Indiana.
Manchester College is where I went to school.
My folks were up near South Bend in Plymouth, and we traveled to St. Louis, and in St. Louis, I received my first NUCCA correction.
That’s the procedure that I practice here, so realignment precision, realignment of the head and neck junction.
That’s where things started to turn around.
Before that point, my experience with going to traditional chiropractic is I would get adjusted every single time in the same way.
It never felt like it was moving things forward in terms of progress, and it would make me feel better for a short period, but it wasn’t a long-term solution.
NUCCA, on the other hand, you see the picture behind me there.
I looked something like that.
My head and neck were all misaligned on the X-rays.
Then after a correction, more X-rays were taken and you could see the change.
It was a measurable difference, number one, it took time for me to feel better.
But over time, over the weeks and the months, I noticed that initially, my migraines weren’t as severe.
I wasn’t as debilitated after a migraine.
Then they started becoming less frequent and fast forward to today, 20 years later, my first NUCCA correction was in April of 2001, and over 20 years later now, I don’t get migraines unless something happens to where this gets knocked out of alignment.
At that point, I knew that I didn’t want to give drugs and surgery to people as a doctor.
I knew that because I didn’t feel like that was a solution either.
No headache is the result of a deficiency of pharmaceutical medication.
That’s not the case.
The medication can make you feel better, but it’s just a temporary relief.
With NUCCA, we correct the structural problem that is causing problems with your nerves.
For me and so many of my other patients now, over the years, now that I’ve been practicing for 16 years when you correct the structural problem, the nerves heal.
Your body was designed to heal, and mine was, too.
Now it is such a privilege and an honor to be able to help others in the same way that I was helped where I didn’t want to get into health care because I didn’t want to put drugs in that God didn’t intend to be in the body in the first place or cut parts out of
the body that was supposed to be there.
Instead of making modifications to the body either chemically or through surgery, I get to work to restore the body’s structure and function the way God intended. That is a true privilege.
The NUCCA correction focuses on restoring all of the communication between the brain and the rest of the body.
With NUCCA, we focus on a misalignment that is at the head and neck junction.
When this is present, it disturbs the way the base of the brain is trying to communicate with the muscles along the spine, and that causes a global structural shift.
Instead of me trying to move all the bones of your spine back to where I think they need to be, when we do the NUCCA correction and we restore the alignment here at the head neck junction, the body balances itself and finds that stable position for a long term solution for you.
We are celebrating our patient Phil by putting him up on the Hall of Fame here.
He’s been holding for four months.
Here’s how our care helped him… in his own words!
Since five years ago, I’ve had two knee replacements.
I’ve had a lot of issues with my lower back, and my right hip.
Since I’ve been being treated by Dr. Flory, the pain’s been gone.
I’ve been looking at some of the other holistic things, and my thinking process is better by taking the Omega-3 pills.
I just think my overall health is a lot better than it was when I walked in the door the first time.
We’re here celebrating with Jean and her induction into the Hall of Fame.
She has been holding for eight months.
We’ve been at this for a while, though.
Chiropractic has helped her migraines come way less frequently.
When she does have one, we can correct this — there’s a reason why it’s come back, and we can identify it and help her out!
What do you think of when you think of inflammation?
Do you think of the RICE method — rest, ice, compress and elevate?
Well, that’s effective if you’ve had a sports injury, for sure.
But what about those ongoing pains and symptoms that you’ve had, the chronic headaches or chronic neck pain or fibromyalgia that have been going on for years that are dealing with inflammation?
It’s not that we want to treat the symptoms, because that’s not going to fix the problem.
Rather, we want to restore the body’s own healing process.
Inflammation is a God-given mechanism in the body for healing.
If you cut your skin, it’s inflammation that mends the skin that occurs in all the tissues of the body.
We want to restore the way the body is healing.
The brain drives and coordinate every single function that the body does, including your healing process.
Whether it be the dozen years of care that I did in California are now here in Indiana with over a couple thousand patients, we have worked with people to correct the atlas restore the way the brain is communicating with the body to restore your body’s natural healing process.
Correcting this is a part of that process.
Then we also look at inflammation in the body from a nutritional standpoint and see if there are any deficiencies that might be limiting your body’s healing process.
If you have questions about inflammation or how we can help you to heal and not rely on those darn pills that you’ve been taken, then reach out to us here at atlasspinalcare.com or give us a call, and we’d be happy to chat with you.
I wanted to cover a question that I get commonly, which is…
How do you go about choosing a chiropractor once you feel like you need one?
The question you need to ask yourself is, what are you looking for?
Here at Atlas Brain and Spine, it’s really important to us that we don’t waste your time and your money.
The first thing that we do is a consultation at no cost to you — its a conversation, not a commitment, to see if we feel like we can help you.
Secondly, you have to decide — are you looking for something that will bring you quicker but short term relief?
Or are you looking for something that brings a longer term solution like a lot of our patients here that we have in our Hall of Fame that have been able to go months, if not even maybe years, without any need for any kind of a correction or chiropractic adjustment.
The reason we’re able to get those results is all about precision.
With your examination, we use some instruments like this machine called an anatometer that measures precisely your body position upright against gravity, and measures the structural shift that’s present and how that is affecting your nervous system.
Additionally, we will also do precise measurements of the head and the neck itself to identify the exact misalignment that you have.
There’s three different pictures here, because we take X-rays in all three dimensions to see precisely how this is out of alignment.
The key to the correction and restoring your alignment for a long term solution is to figure this out.
It’s so important that we know how to go about correcting this, because each person has had their own unique accidents and injuries and it needs to be addressed in an individualized way.
Last but not least, we don’t ask you to sign up for a lifetime of adjustments with our procedure and our protocol here — we look at typically doing about an eight week initial phase of care to make sure that this is the right place for you.
Of course, we don’t expect you to be 100% yield after eight weeks if you’ve had migraine headaches for years.
But within eight weeks, the majority of our patients are 90% or more are experiencing at least a 50% improvement or greater, and we know that we’re on the right track.
Once we have established that, then of course, we can get you better and take care of you as long as you need to get a full resolution and stability to your spine for a long term solution.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
Hopefully this answers some questions and give you a few things to think about when you’re choosing what chiropractor to go to.
